Welcome to the First Priority of America Introduction site! If you are checking out FP for the first time, this is the place to be. We are so glad that you are considering this! We desire the Gospel of Jesus Christ to go to the ends of the earth. Our call is to help the local church put a focus on the school systems in America. This is our vision: The Hope of Christ in Every Student in America. It is our belief that many students don’t reject the Good News of Jesus, they have never heard it! Gone are the days of Grandpa and Grandma taking the kids to church with them; grandparents sit in church alone. Students get their view of church from media. Scary! I wouldn’t go either. So let’s bring the gospel message to them. First Priority does this by following our Mission Statement: Uniting the Local Body of Christ to Influence the School with the Gospel. We are a strategy for the local church, which is alive and well [so far] in every community in America, to take ownership and influence This generation with Jesus.
Today, I want to take a moment to tell you that you are not alone in this quest to bring First Priority to your community, but you are part of the few. Scripture tells us in Matthew 9:37 that ‘the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few’. First Priority has been around for 20 years and there are only a handful of communities that have started from the ground. Why? Because few answer the call like Nehemiah did for Jerusalem.
How many people do you think walked through town during the seventy years of captivity and said, “Man, these walls are broken; someone should do something!” Only Nehemiah did. Are you the One for your community?
Why First Priority?
We want a community of leaders to come together and build a movement that lasts. If you are at a fork in the road with what God is calling you to as a believer, know this: when lost people hear for the first time about hope in Christ, their lives are changed. But know that “The Hope of Christ in Every Student” is not possible without unity among the Body of Believers in your community. This is what makes us distinctly a local church strategy and not a para- church model of ministry. We assist community leadership in uniting the church with a [legal] plan of action to influence your school(s) with the Gospel. Read through the information provided. Pray through these steps. Follow God into a world of life change! If not you, then who?
